Eone Sponsors Focus on Ability Short Film Festival

As big supporters of all things inclusive, Eone was proud to be a prize contributor to the recent short film festival – Focus on Ability.

The Focus on Ability Short Film Festival (FOA) recently marked its 15th annual edition, featuring 310 finalists from 17 different countries. This unique festival challenges filmmakers to spotlight the abilities of individuals with disabilities, encouraging them to narrate compelling stories through film for a global audience.

Initiated in 2009 by NOVA Employment CEO Martin Wren, FOA stands as a beacon of hope and entertainment in a world often dominated by distressing news. Wren expressed his enthusiasm for yet another year of the festival, highlighting the outstanding quality of submissions and the impactful narratives that shed light on the experiences of disability.

Each year, the films are showcased on the FOA website, drawing audiences from all corners of the globe. The online voting period this year witnessed tremendous enthusiasm, particularly in Ethiopia, Malawi, New Zealand, and Australia. In 2023, FOA hit the road, hosting packed film screenings in cities like Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide, Launceston, Melbourne, and Fremantle.

Ryan Goodwin, the Creative Director of Focus on Ability, expressed immense pleasure at the enthusiastic turnouts, emphasizing the festival’s inclusive nature, which fosters a genuine celebration of people with disabilities. The screenings also provided a platform to recognize deserving individuals, presenting them with Eone timepieces from Eone and Vision Australia.

With an impressive pool of over $100,000 in cash and prizes, anticipation runs high for the announcement of the winners. The victors will be revealed and celebrated at an exclusive red carpet event in Sydney on November 5th. For further details and to enjoy these inspiring films, visit www.focusonability.com.au
